+ What does your average day look like?
Each day is different, which I love. Some days are office days, where I spend most of my time at my desk answering emails, working on web trainings, or spending a lot of time on the phone. Other days are shoot days! Out and about shooting for Indy's cutest families or content/brand shooting for teammates. I take my schedule week by week, as to not get too overwhelmed! In the evenings, I'm strictly in mom mode. Chauffeuring the kiddos around to various activities, making dinner, playing outside with the fur babies, and making a conscious effort to rest and re-energize after a full work day. And I always make sure to squeeze in a nap or two.
+ What Monat products do you use regularly?
You'll never find me without the Restore Leave-in conditioner, Rejuveniqe oil, or the Advanced Hydration Serum! My favorite shampoo and conditioner are the Smoothing Line, they keep my fine (but sometimes frizzy!) hair smooth and so manageable.
+ What editing software do you use?
For client work, I use Photoshop exclusively. For Instagram/mobile content, I use the Lightroom app and my own LR mobile presets! Available here!
+ Favorite Podcasts?
For work? Often Ambitious or anything by Gary Vee! for road trips? Serial!
Post daily and often. Utilize stories and live videos! Create content that feels authentic to you. And choose the five things/pillars that you're most passionate about, and only focus on those things when posting content. But my number one tip?? Posting daily and often. Consistency is everything!
If you could tell another small business owner one thing you wish you knew in the beginning, what would it be? You don't have to do everything the world tells you to do.
+ Why Monat?
right now, we're seeing a huge surge in women at all stages of life making a living and supporting their families with home based businesses. The more I researched the options and understood passive income, residual income, and multiple streams of income, the more I realized how important it was to link myself with a social selling company--but it had to be the RIGHT one. Monat checked all my boxes!
Monat is the first company focused solely on hair care in the social marketing space. It's a family owned and run company, based out of Miami, Florida. It's also a debt free company, which was super important to me. They own their own R&D and manufacturing/distributing facilities which means a lower price point and quality products for the consumer.
The company's culture is one of gratitude and giving back. This has been super important and meaningful to me in my personal life, so being able to work for a company that aligns with my personal passion is incredible. It also fit seamlessly into my already crazy life! I fit this business into the nooks and crannies and don't feel overwhelmed or bogged down. I work how I want, when I want, with who I want.
The products are award winning and a disruptor in the beauty industry, currently outselling top brands worldwide. This means good things for not just your hair, but your business!
It's a consumable product and doesn't ask anyone to change their current habits or way of life. It's just a simple shampoo swap!
Joining this company hasn't just rewarded me financially, it's given me a community I didn't know I needed, time and financial freedom, and the ability to work from home with my kids while supporting my family. win-win!
Thank you so much! Yes! You can shop my looks anytime via the LIKEtoKNOW.it app or directly at liketoknow.it/sarahhill920.
+ How do you take your coffee?
Trying to take it black more often than not! I prefer to be as low maintenance as possible! But when I'm feelin' that sweet tooth, it's always an iced coffee with cream and caramel!
+ Are you still shooting?
Yes! Absolutely. I still have my studio in downtown Greenwood for head shots and mini sessions, and booking is always open for those! As my kiddos get older, priorities had to shift. Between school, extracurriculars, sports and teenage hormones (SOS), it became clear last year that my babes need their mom just as much now as they did when they were younger. So, while I'm no longer opening booking for sunset/evening sessions, I'm still shooting studio work as often as I can! My oldest will be out of our home and off to college in four short years, and I want no regrets about being present at home in this stage of life.
